A few months ago we reported that the co-creator of ALF, Paul Fusco was planning to pitch a movie based on the cat eating alien to studios, and thatALF could be coming to the big screen.  Well looks like its going to happen!  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Animation has closed  deal to develop ALF as a hybrid CG/live action film.  Fusco will voice the character again, just as he did in the original TV series, and will produce the film with the original show’s co-creator Tom Patchett, along with Jordan Kerner, who produced the recent Smurfs movie.

They currently do not have a writer or director attached.

What do you think of this news?  I went on record previously saying that if they did this, I was hopeful they would retain the puppet, and keeping the character the way he was.  With it being called a hybrid CG/live action film, it doesn’t look like that will be the case.
